JASON W HALL SPIRIT OF THE BEAR AWARD

JASON W. HALL “SPIRIT OF THE BEAR” AWARD TO BE PRESENTED AT WORLD BEAR WEEKEND 2021.

Jason William Hall, Mr. Philadelphia Leather 2015, served and continues to serve as an example of the best things a titleholder can be in any community, be it bear, leather, or, like Jason, a bit of both. Jason brought out the best in everyone he grew to know, and his passing in 2018 at the age of 43 from brain cancer still invokes a sense of loss in all who knew and loved him. When Jason took the stage at IML, his amazing speech centered on living your life while respecting the lives of those around you. It was there on the IML stage that he uttered the now famous words “Don’t be a fucking asshole”, in an effort to stress the importance of respecting all, and the crowd there that evening responded to his words with a rousing, hall-wide, standing ovation. To honor Jason’s memory and continue to promote his message, we have created the Jason William Hall “Spirit of the Bear” Award. This award will be presented annually by the competitors of World Bear Weekend to the person in their “class” whom they feel best exemplifies Jason’s message.

The award will be presented by Jason’s mother, Denise Hall.
